The Moonbeam Children's Book Awards for 2008 were awarded at the American Library Association (ALA) Midwinter Gathering. Meeting Lizzy was the proud recipient of the Bronze Award recognizing exemplary children’s books and their creators, and to support childhood literacy and life-long reading.
The ALA Midwinter Gathering took place in Denver, Colorado just last week. I wasn't able to attend the event. (I really wish I could have made it!) But it looks like everything went well. I can only hope that Meeting Lizzy got into the hands of every YA librarian and that next time I'll be able to attend the show in person instead of just sending my book! Hopefully librarians from YA and teen sections throughout the nation wandered through the booth and picked it up!
Of course...if you wander into your local library and aren't able to get Meeting Lizzy make sure to let them know they're missing it and that you'd appreciate it if they looked into getting it for their collection! EVERY Young Adult librarian wasn't able to make it to the show so they may not have heard what a fabulous addition the book will be to their collections!
